How can I stop my 1 year old boxer from chewing?
I have a one year old boxer pup as well as a 8 yr old. Both male. The pup was great when he was tiny and we had no trouble with him at all until he hit 6/7 months! He has now become very destructive-he has ruined my kitchen door to the extent we have to replace it and has recently started on another door. We now crate him whenever we are going out. We work full time but he his very well exercised at least 2 40 minute walks a day-however on weekends it’s longer and he also gets an extra walk and he has lots of toys. We have just got him neutered to see if that helps. We are at our wits end.
get him some chew sticks, he’s probably teething, also an old shoe and other toys.

Pull his teeth out, then he’ll only be able to such.

Can you try giving him a rawhide or milk bone to chew? Get a big one to keep him busy throughout the day.
To stop him from chewing the furniture, there is a bitter apple spray you can get in pet stores, although I have to say it didn’t work quite well in my experience. Some people find smearing gold listerine or cayenne pepper helpful. Tabasco works too, but it stains.

Try giving him bits of rope, or rope toys to chew on. Puppies chew all the time due to developing teeth! Would not advocate giving old bits of shoe or sock, trust me, I learnt that the hard way when I walked in on my beagle eating my trainers! Would maybe try putting some lemon juice on things he tries to chew on….dogs are usually repelled by the acidic smell.
If you’ve exhausted all options, my best advice would be to go to puppy training classes or a 1-2-1 behaviourist. They can give a more personal help after seeing the dog in person.
Good luck!

He’s still a pup, he’s going to chew a bit. If you’re out a lot he could be getting stressed. BTW walking him won’t change the way he thinks, it’ll just make him fitter and able to do it more efficiently.
Get hold of "The Dog Listener" by Jan Fennell - this will help you to calm him and give him confidence, so he won’t chew to get comfort (chewing release endorphins which have a calming effect).
If you want to email I can put you in touch with someone local who can help, but reading the book and taking some time should be all you need.

He is bored and miserable, consequently he suffers from Separation Anxiety. Two forty minute walks are not enough for a young boxer. You must try to get home at lunch time AND pay a dog walker to give him extra walks. You should also do the following.
If your dog suffers from separation anxiety don
